As a regional leader, why is economic development important to you?
A healthy local economy is necessary to have a high quality of life, and economic development is the way we stay economically healthy. So as a city leader, economic issues are very important, like public safety or infrastructure.
Economic development impacts where and how we work, how we shop and interact with each other, and the opportunities that are available for our families to live, work, learn, serve and play.
What excites you most about being part of GSEC?
GSEC is an innovative and cutting edge organization that is literally reinventing the economic fabric of the Sacramento region. Who wouldn’t want to be involved with that? This is the one organization in the Sacramento region that is looking out long term for our economic and quality of life opportunities.
What do you like most about living and doing business in the Greater Sacramento region?
One of the great things about the Greater Sacramento region is that we enjoy many of the benefits of being in California, without the expected downsides. In my City of Rancho Cordova, we benefit from so many amenities in our community and the region, like beautiful views of the mountains and the most attractive part of the American River running through our community, to a massive and diverse local jobs base that provides lots of opportunity and tons of things for kids and families to do, and a sense of purpose and camaraderie that holds our community together.
